Wine of the Month

Each month we buy a pallet of wine - approximately 56 cases of 12 - which we offer at a very advantageous rate to our customers on the basis that the offer is unlikely to be repeatable. Once it has gone, it has gone!

Our wine of the month is Ridgeback Cabernet Sauvignon/ Merlot vintage 2004 at a special price of £84 per case while stocks last. This wine from the Yarra Valley, Victoria in Australia is showing excellent mautrity of fruit and intergrated tannin and oak as a reulst of time spent in French barrels.

New In!!

We have just received two more palates of wine for the new shop.

The first is a fantastic Rioja from the Hacienda López de Haro House. Made from Tempranilllo, Garnacha and Graciano grapes typical for Rioja, it is a Crianza and as such must undergo a minimum of two years aging, one of which is oak barrique. This wime has undergone a little more with 18 months in 50% French Oak and 50% American Oak and a further two years in bottle giving a balanced and well finished wine with flavours that linger on the palate. It has a medium depth ruby hue, on the nose there are mature aromas of plums, spice and tobacco with hints of sweet oak. The palate furthers this theme with dark berry and sweet spicy oak. There is a hint of savoury on the finish still with vanilla from the American oak. A fantastic wine to accompany foods such as spiced lamb chop or parmesan and herb crusted beef fillet.

The second is the Quinta da Giesta Rosé

This fantastic rosé from the steep mountainous slopes of the Dáo region in the heart of Portugal has a deep strawberry hue and aromas of refreshingly ripe fruit, apples and violet, typical of the variety Touriga Nacional from which this wine is made. Produced with help from some of the most famous and well-respected wine producers in Portugal, this full bodied and rounded rosé is the perfect way to celebrate the start of summer. On the palate you will find red fruit and summer berries, this is balanced with good acidity and a full but rounded mouth feel. This rosé lends itself to those idle afternoons in the sun as an aperitif whilst also providing the perfect accompaniment to fruit salad or even spicy food like Thai green chicken curry which the ripe fruit and body will help to compliment perfectly.
